Week 3 - In the public eye

Everybody is an individual, and each celebrity bears fame differently. As in every circumstance in life, popularity takes some advantages and disadvantages along. In fact, it will be my topic from today.

From a layperson's point of view, if I would wake up tomorrow being in the public eye, I think that I would substantially regret not having my own privacy. Celebrities and other famous people cannot lead lives of normal people and are generally unable to do things that the average citizens can. That is why, I would regret not enjoying the little pleasures in life, which can be very frustating indeed.

This involves not doing some funny and ordinary activities such as going for a bicycle ride, lying on the beach on a sunny day, reading a book while seated on the grass, relaxing in the sun, talking with a friend in a beautiful café for hours and hours... It's funny, though, that whereas not well-known people is normally bored about doing these things, celebrities wish they could do them more often.

Furthermore, I could not put down with being constantly judged. Blogs, magazines along with other forms of media constantly judge and insult personalities, bodies and habits of celebrities. It would actually be really hard for me to assimilate it. Other aspect I would regret if I was in the public eye is not knowing who reaches you out merely for convenience' sake.

Nonetheless, being famous has its own advantages, too. Celebrities get special treatment wherever they go. In fact, they get preferential treatment over other customers at a restaurants. Moreover, fame generally brings lots of fortune: Luxurious, homes and cars. From my own point of view, I wish I was known because many opportunities arise when people become famous. For example, a celebrity can afford to dwell into newer businesses like perfumes or fashion industry because he or she is famous and can promote them. In addition, the best advice is that humans in the public eye have voice and position in order to fight against both social pression and injustices. In fact, women such as Emma Watson or Lena Dunham fight for woman rights.

To sum up, being famous definitely opens many doors in life which would have remained shut had fame not been achieved. Fame brings with it very good and tentative things but also obscure and sad situations. Personally, I think that if your dream is being a succesful actor or singer, you have to cope with its negative things. It means that you cannot renounce your passion in life just for avoid negative things. You will not embrace happiness with that mentality!
