Week 5 - Dream Job????

One of the most difficult and gratifying things that can happen is viewing as satisfying all your dreams and hopes. Unfortunately, not many people are provided by the perfect opportunity to live doing what they love to do. Nevertheless, I personally belong to those type of population who see the cup as being half full and I strongly believe that perseverance, gratitude, constancy and not despair are the main ingredients in order to live our dreams. However, everything is easy and some problems are able to take you in order to work in your nightmare job.

Being honest, above all, I dream of one day traveling through the world and also share both experiences and contribute ideas with other humans. Do not you think being paid for traveling would be the best experience ever?!  I would also like to work as a volunteer with families and specially with children in Africa along with perform in theatre and musical productions. Nonetheless, my nightmare job would be spending my days and my time working on something which makes me feel dead as following long office hours. Moreover, having respect for all the following, I would not like to have a job such as construction worker, cleaner or plumber among others; I would like to have my own opportunity to live up to my dreams.

Besides, our grandparents have experienced a lot of changes through their lifes. In case of some of my grandparents, they had to live the postwar period in such bad conditions, starving and working for long and hard hours and hours since they were children. They were not also allowed to live their dreams, even to think of them; mournfully, they just lived to survive. For intance, in case of my mother's father, after studying intensively and living a lot of misfortunes since he was just a child, was able to rise above himself and he finally passed public examinations and became a public servant. Thereby he was balanced out with little vacations.
However, fortunately life has changed a lot. That is why it is produced a clash of cultures between older citizens and young people nowadays.

To finish with this post, I would like to tell you what activities I have done this week in order to improve my English level. First of all, I have recently started to speak in some bars where citizens develop activities so that people of different countries and cultures meet there. I strongly believe that it is the best opportunity to progress and that is why I urge you to find a bar near you, pull out all your hair and just have fun! Furthermore, as every weeks, I have watched some original movies and tv shows with English subtitles such as 500 days of Summer and the mytical Sex and the city.

Finally, I would like to close by saying that I hope you may find my blog interesting in general and this post in particular. I see you soon!

Week 4 - If I were you

This week has been insane! When is it going to finish? Meanwhile, today I will explain you what activities I have done in the last four weeks in order to improve my English.

To be frank, I am not specially original with regard to English activities in order to get a better language level. As I previously mentioned, reading is considered one of the succesful choices because of the capacity of vocabulary and grammar which population can interiorise apart from other positive points such as imagination and creativity and opening our mind to other stories and situations. Furthermore, it is highly demostrated that it increases people's empathy. According to the importance of this activity, I am now reading the well-known Romeo and Juliet's play. Being honest, even though this book's plot is popularly renowned, I wanted to get involve in a profound way to the story. It would may also be highly interesting to read English language newspaper like Metro in London, usually the easiest to understand, followed by mid-brow titles like The Daily Express or The Daily Mail in English. I find a lot of advantages in it because the more you read, the more knowledge you gain.
Moreover, I have started to practice my English level in order to get a C1 English level with online exercises. This website , https://www.examenglish.com/CEFR/C1.htm, is also extremely useful because of the multiple options of diverse skills such as listenings or readings, in addition to grammar and vocabulary tests.
Finally, as I said you formerly, watching original movies with English subtitles is essential in order to learn. This week I should like to recommend two movies of classic of American cinema; Breakfast at Tiffany's and Dead poets Society. In case you did not enjoy them, I advice you to watch them.

And this is all for now! In conclusion, there are a lot of ideas of different activities to carry on in order to get a better English level. Besides, here are nearly limitless tips we can put into practice for not to get bored while learning: https://www.usingenglish.com/articles/70-ways-to-improve-your-english.html. To finish with, I leave you for now with some pictures of these two films I have recommended you here today. I see you!

Week 3 - In the public eye

Everybody is an individual, and each celebrity bears fame differently. As in every circumstance in life, popularity takes some advantages and disadvantages along. In fact, it will be my topic from today.

From a layperson's point of view, if I would wake up tomorrow being in the public eye, I think that I would substantially regret not having my own privacy. Celebrities and other famous people cannot lead lives of normal people and are generally unable to do things that the average citizens can. That is why, I would regret not enjoying the little pleasures in life, which can be very frustating indeed.

This involves not doing some funny and ordinary activities such as going for a bicycle ride, lying on the beach on a sunny day, reading a book while seated on the grass, relaxing in the sun, talking with a friend in a beautiful café for hours and hours... It's funny, though, that whereas not well-known people is normally bored about doing these things, celebrities wish they could do them more often.

Furthermore, I could not put down with being constantly judged. Blogs, magazines along with other forms of media constantly judge and insult personalities, bodies and habits of celebrities. It would actually be really hard for me to assimilate it. Other aspect I would regret if I was in the public eye is not knowing who reaches you out merely for convenience' sake.

Nonetheless, being famous has its own advantages, too. Celebrities get special treatment wherever they go. In fact, they get preferential treatment over other customers at a restaurants. Moreover, fame generally brings lots of fortune: Luxurious, homes and cars. From my own point of view, I wish I was known because many opportunities arise when people become famous. For example, a celebrity can afford to dwell into newer businesses like perfumes or fashion industry because he or she is famous and can promote them. In addition, the best advice is that humans in the public eye have voice and position in order to fight against both social pression and injustices. In fact, women such as Emma Watson or Lena Dunham fight for woman rights.

To sum up, being famous definitely opens many doors in life which would have remained shut had fame not been achieved. Fame brings with it very good and tentative things but also obscure and sad situations. Personally, I think that if your dream is being a succesful actor or singer, you have to cope with its negative things. It means that you cannot renounce your passion in life just for avoid negative things. You will not embrace happiness with that mentality!

Week 2 - Our first steps in C1

Traveling provides humanity with another perspective in life and being interested in meeting new cultures and people who may stay in our heart forever. I like writing quotes that support me in order to explain my topic in a deeper meaning. As Rumi said, "Travel brings power and love back to your life."
In addition to be pleased with how lucky you really are to live and have a loved family and some friends, you think highly of discovering other types of religions, particular tastes and different smells that open your mind and make you be more empathic and tolerant with people and circumstances. Besides, you become aware of an essential moral lesson: Everyone is equal and everyone is equal in human dignity.

In case of someone asked me "What would you do if you had enough money?" I could not, even for a moment, to doubt. In fact,  If I had enough money, I would be enthusiastic about going round the world because travel gives me time to think, ideate, observe and learn new things, inspiration to live better, or perhaps, happy to be living a better life. Nevertheless, If I had enough money, the places which I would be specially excited about visiting to are The Great Wall of China and The Amazon Rainforest because these historical and spectacular locations are able to emit a special aura and are also georgeous as well as freedom and nature are powerfully breathing there. I believe they are simply magic. Moreover, lately I had the opportunity to travel with some friends and I can strongly say that it has been one of my best adventures ever. We laughed, we discovered...  In a few words, we just had fun!

Friends are one of our more valuable assets and I feel very proud of surrounding myself with good people that make me have a happier and a more valuable life. Furthermore, I could place particular emphasis on saying a lot of their qualities which make them special comrades. Laughing is definitely their best quality and they also both listen to you if you are worried about something and give you helpful hints in order to help the best they can. I wish we travelled together a lot during our whole life because I learn about them everydays. Even more important, I am succesful in having some friends thatn make me feel loved and good.

Summing up, I would like to finish with a short reflection. Succesful and adventure are nothing if you are not surrounded by good people who may gladden your heart and bring wisdom to your life. Besides, I will finish with this quote by Mark Twain: "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness." Open your mind and be free!

Week 1 - Process Writing

English language is such as the Achilles' heel of a large part of Spanish population. I actually wonder why... We have studied it since we have use of reason!

That is why I would like to ask a question about this topic. Where the fault lies? Is it the student's fault? Is the education system's guilt? Or maybe are not teachers used to focusing on the main aspects of the language? Be that as it may, improving our English level is always necessary and possible. In fact, it is close at hand. Furthermore, I am going to write about my own techniques to progress my writing correctly.

First of all, I strongly believe that it is necessary to study grammar and vocabulary. People sometimes think on it as a boring part of the language, however, it is crucial in order to apply your knowledge in both writing and speaking.  Moreover, it will help your with your skills. Luckily, we are able to find a lot of different textbooks, and I would like to recommend Essential Grammar in use, English Grammar In use or Advance Grammar in use depending on your current level because of their ease of understanding and effective exercises with solutions.

Secondly, reading is also considerably important not only in a foreign language but also in your mother tongue. As George R.R. Martin said once, "A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies... The man who never reads lives only one". Personally, I think it is totally true. Why reading? This activity develops your verbal abilities and improves your memory as well as you are able to discover new structures and vocabulary. From my point of view, my piece of advice is: Read whatever you enjoy, but read. Bit by bit, it will produce significant results.

Finally, I would like to write about my funniest advices in order to improve your English level: Apart from watching movies and tv shows, listening to music is also necessary to attune the ear to the language. Furthermore, some famous American series such as Friends and How I met your mother among others are reasonably useful and helpful  by cause of their simple language along with they are enjoyable!

To sum up, as I told at the begining, learning English is really close at hand and, trusting yourself and having patience are the basic elements to improve your writing as well as studying hard. Decisively, I hope that these tools I use are favorable to you all! Long life to English!
